[Mobile Cinema] DRIVE by Kent Chan

Drive is a mobile cinema outfitted to the back of an open-air truck. It is a survey of the city done on the move, as much as it is also an experience of moving through the city’s rhythms, and to do so with moving images. This iteration of Drive is presented as part of NUS Museum’s CONCRETE ISLAND.

Kent Chan (b.1984) is an artist, filmmaker, and curator based in Singapore and Amsterdam. His practice revolves around our encounters with art, fiction and cinema that explore the links between aesthetic experience and knowledge production. The works and practices of others often form the locus of his works, which examines the ambiguity that lies at the interstices of art (making) and daily life.

CONCRETE ISLAND is a prep-room project sited primarily at NUS Museum. Unfolding across the formats of an exhibition space, publication, a reading workshop, a bus tour, it attempts to read to the city as a condition of movement, exchange and intensities.
